Stop Mass Applying: The 60-Second Job Listing Test
43% of Listings Are Empty Houses
Here's the 60-Second Test.
Would you house-hunt 🏠 by booking every listing?
Impossible.
You filter for some key factors:
✔️ Price.
✔️ Location.
✔️ Availability.
Because a place can look stunning in photos. But if it's 2 hours from work, it just won’t work.
That’s exactly how to approach the job search in Q3-4 2026.
Most people open LinkedIn and tour everything with a pulse 👀
Job title look right? Click 🖱️
The company look interesting? Click 🖱️
“Easy Apply”? Click 🖱️
Then 45 minutes later, they’ve sprayed 20+ applications with less than 0.4% chance of getting hired 😵💫
But that’s not what we coach at Wonsulting.
Your lunch break is finite.
Job hunting energy after work is finite.
And your Saturdays are definitely finite ⏳
You shouldn't spend your best hours applying to every job.
You should spend them on the jobs where you can realistically win.
WONSULTING WISDOM
Read the Listing Like a Realtor 🏡
Before you invest an hour in an application, ask one question:
Is this opportunity actually worth my time? ⏱️
Start with 3 filters:
Filter 1️⃣: Is it even on the market? (10 seconds) 👻
Somewhere between 10% and 43% of postings may not represent active hiring needs.
Look for:
→ Posted in the last 3 weeks?
→ Specific responsibilities, not a wish list for a unicorn?
→ A salary range, a location, a named recruiter or at least, something concrete?
If the listing raises red flags, move on.
Being perfect for a ghost job still gets you zero.
Filter 2️⃣: How well do you actually match? (20 seconds) 🎯
This is where most job seekers get fooled.
The title matches.
The salary looks good 💰
The company is exciting ✨
So they apply.
But titles don't say whether you're a great fit.
Look at the actual requirements.
Does your background line up with what they're asking for?
Do you have the skills? The relevant experience?
And the evidence to back it?
A job can be “perfect” on paper and still be a poor use of your time ⏳
Filter 3️⃣: What's your realistic shot? (30 seconds) 💰
You don't need to know whether you're guaranteed to get the job.
You need to know whether it's worth investing 45 minutes trying.
That's the difference between searching and targeting.
One More Thing
Stop Searching. Start Targeting.
You could do all of this manually.
✔️ Open LinkedIn.
✔️ Read hundreds of descriptions.
✔️ Compare requirements against your resume.
✔️ Check whether the posting looks legitimate.
✔️ Then rank the jobs in your head.
Every. Single. Day 😩
Or you could let technology do the first pass. 🤖
JobBoardAI surfaces roles based on how well they match your background — so instead of another endless list, you get a shortlist. 🎯
You stop asking:
"Is this worth my time?" 🤔
You start asking:
"Which should I try first?" ✅
Always remember:
Your Saturdays are finite. So is your job search.
Every hour on the wrong application is an hour stolen from the right one.
Stop touring every house 🏠
