How to Job Search While Employed (Without Burning Out)
You don't have to hate your job to leave it.
Sometimes, you're leaving because you've simply stopped growing.
You're doing the same work, getting the same raises, and watching someone with less experience get the opportunity you were hoping for.
Every time you want something new for yourself or the company, itâs the same âlet's revisit this next quarter.â
You've realized you're not only burned out, but you're also stuck and overwhelmed.
This is one of the most common things people tell me.
The tricky part?
Searching while you're employed is a completely different game.
You don't have unlimited time.
You can't exactly tell your boss you're interviewing.
And trying to squeeze a full job search into nights and weekends can burn you out faster.
That's why I don't recommend treating it like a numbers game.
You don't need to apply to 100 jobs.
You need a quiet, strategic search that helps find the right one without blowing up the one you have.
That means:
đŻ Targeting specific roles instead of everything related
đŻ Building relationships before you need them.
đŻ Protecting your current role by turning off LinkedIn profile broadcasts, using a personal email, and scheduling calls before 9am or on PTO.
Job searching gets a lot harder when you adopt these and still aim for jobs with much higher conditions.
And that's exactly why I set up a special team for employed jobseekers.
We'll help you revamp what's not working, determine the right strategy, apply to the right opportunities, and even negotiate when you land the offer, all while keeping your search as discreet as possible.
If that's the kind of support you need to move away and actually move forward:
