â
Hey there,
â
The job search is something else, let me tell you - you get ghosted by applications and high hopes, only to be let down.
â
If thatâs you, I totally understand and want to help with this non-traditional strategy.
â
But before we dive into this strategy, let me know if you need any more job search help by clicking here.
â
Now, imagine this - you've been job hunting for the past 6 months.Â
â
You've had a few interviews but none with companies you truly cared for.Â
â
Then, out of the blue, you receive an email that makes your heart race - an interview call from your dream company, say, Google.
â
Youâre excited yet nervous at the same time.
â
And thatâs normal to feel - thatâs exactly how I felt interviewing.
â
But hereâs what Iâd recommend doing: itâs called the interview project proposal.
â
This proposal might be the difference in you standing out compared to other candidates, and itâs exactly what I did to land my first job at Snapchat.
â
Hereâs what you can do (And it may take you just 5 minutes but will look like a two-hour effort):
â
Step 1: Replace the company name on the first slide, use their colors for extra points, and their logo for good measure. Add a professional headshot of yourself, ideally in a circle shape.
â
â
Next, a two-sentence summary of your related work experience for the role. Add two relevant project examples. If you need inspiration, ResumAI is your friend. Type in your job title, generate a one-sentence summary and voila! (Just make sure to edit the numbers for accuracy)
â
â
Now comes the exciting part. Suggest three project examples you would undertake if you joined the team.Â
â
If you're wondering what projects to recommend, use ChatGPT to help you. Hereâs a prompt you can do:Â
âI am interviewing for a (ROLE) at (COMPANY). Here is the job description: (ADD JOB DESCRIPTION). Here is my resume: (ADD RESUME EXPERIENCE) I am creating an interview project proposal where Iâm suggesting three project examples I would undertake if I joined the team. Help me create the 3 project examples related to my resume experienceâ
â
Choose three, and place them onto your slide with some details. Send this to the recruiter, and watch their amazement.Â
â
They've probably never seen anything like this!
â
â
Recruiters want to know if you can do the job, if they can work with you, and if you're excited about the role.Â
â
This proposal screams a resounding YES to all three.
â
So, go ahead and stun them with your preparation.
â
Let me know how it goes for you :)Â
â
Note: Do this for companies you consider at the top of your list. I know you canât do for all, so be selective in choosing!
â
Keep pushing and see you next week!
